Sustainability

Keeping it clean

The beautiful Caribbean islands are our inspiration, so we're doing what we can to help them thrive.

As passionate, ocean lovers we spend a lot of time below the sea admiring life through nature’s blue light. When we’re on land, it’s all about encoranging awarness through action. Small, positive changes do make a difference.

We’re always trying our best to contribute to a sustainable future. It is a continuous learning curve and one that we’re happy to explore. Here are some of our sustainable initiatives.

Design

We’ve been focused on our design and materials over the last couple of years with the following updates:

1. Wooden cork tops
2. Composite corks (up cycled cork fragments)
3. Paper based labels
4. No plastic sealer
5. Cardboard boxes with plastic free-tape

Reef Restoration

We have partnered up with GAARP to encourage reef restoration. This artificial reef project is a platform for education and awareness of the Caribbean’s coral reef state.

Local Ingredients

One of our favourite parts about being in The Caribbean is having access to amazing, local ingredients. Many of our botanicals come within a 20 minute drive of the distillery. We are lucky enough to help support some great local farmers.

Mangrove Care

Mangroves store Carbon Dioxide at greater rates that forests, though they are being destroyed at an alarming rate. Cleaning one square meter of mangrove per bottle of Blue Ocean Edition gin helps to keep them alive and spread awareness

Energy Saving

Our small, tropical distillery is able to offset much of our electrical power with solar panels.

Rain Water

We use collected tropical rainwater in our gin making process (which also adds to the softness of the finished product)

Recycling & Upcycling

To help customers save money and the environment, we offer Blue Light Caribbean Gin bottle refills in our distillery for local customers. This incentive helps reduce waste
